Assembly Technician (Entry-Level)

About TILT

TILT Autonomy builds autonomous systems for commercial and defense applications. We're a small, highly technical team, and most of us come from engineering or defense backgrounds.

We're growing, and we're looking to bring on someone early in their career who wants to learn precision hardware assembly.

The Role

This role is a fit for someone who's good with their hands, careful by nature, and wants to learn precision hardware assembly. You'll take assemblies from parts to finished product — building and testing electronics and mechanical subassemblies, following our build procedures, and helping keep the production floor running. You'll work closely with our mechanical and electrical engineers.

This role is also the engine that keeps the shop moving: receiving and breaking down shipments, parts inventory, packing and shipping finished units, and the everyday work of keeping a production space running.

You need to care about quality, be willing to learn, and understand the difference between "close enough" and "done right." We'll teach you the rest.

What You'll Learn and Do

Assembly & Integration - Build and test electronics assemblies — cable harnesses, connectors, housings, boards - Assemble mechanical subassemblies from engineering drawings and BOMs - Learn soldering, crimping, and functional testing under the guidance of our engineers - Handle ESD-sensitive components (we'll train you on the protocols)

Production & Documentation - Follow build instructions, traveler documents, and inspection checklists - Flag discrepancies between drawings/BOMs and physical parts — if something doesn't match, you catch it - Log build steps and test results in our system - Support incoming inspection: verify parts against POs, identify damage, maintain inventory of parts

Shop & Operations - Receive and break down incoming shipments; keep parts inventory organized and accurate - Pack and ship finished units, including prepping shipping documentation - Help set up and run the production floor as we move into our new facility - Pitch in on the everyday work that keeps a small shop humming

What We're Looking For

Must have: - Careful, methodical work habits — genuine attention to detail - Ability to read and follow technical instructions, drawings, and diagrams - Good hands and a willingness to learn precision assembly - Reliability and a strong work ethic in a small team with shifting priorities

Counts as experience (any of these): - Coursework in electronics, mechanical, manufacturing, or a related technical field - Personal or hobbyist projects (building PCs, drones, robotics, RC, 3D printing, electronics kits, etc.) - Part-time, internship, or vocational hands-on work - Military technical training

Nice to have: - Any soldering, crimping, or electronics bench experience - Familiarity with 3D printers (Formlabs, Bambu) or basic shop tools - Exposure to ESD handling or precision assembly

Location & Schedule

On-site — Annapolis, MD. This is a hands-on role; remote is not available. Standard business hours, with flexibility considered for a current student.
